Crimond is a rural parish with the village at its heart. The village boasts many amenities including an excellent nursery/primary school which includes a variety of after school clubs. Within the school grounds there is a sports field with all weather pitch. A new multi-purpose Medical Centre has been built. This building also houses a pharmacy, gym and café. Crimond has a care home, sheltered housing, 1 general store, bowling green, community centre and public hall. There is a thriving toddlers group and playgroup, Rainbow, Brownie and Girl Guides units and junior football team. Although there is not a Boys Brigade company in Crimond, there is one in St. Combs which is affiliated to Lonmay Parish Church. Boys from Crimond do attend this organisation. There is also a Community Council, Crimond Tenants & Residence Association and Friendship Club. Of interest in the area is the RSPB Loch of Strathbeg Nature Reserve and Bird Sanctuary. Nearby golf courses include Fraserburgh, Inverallochy, Peterhead and Cruden Bay. Aden Country Park and Pitfour Lake are in nearby Mintlaw.

The main industry is agriculture with the St Fergus Gas Terminal having a major infulence in the local community. Aberdeen, which is the oil capital of Europe, is only 45 minutes by car where there is a train and bus station. In neighbouring Dyce there is Aberdeen International Airport
